Jamie Doom...

answers his own rhetorical questions.

Thursday, December 18

I'm not complaining or shilling for votes, but the girl who is in second place in the funniest blog portion of the Asia Blog Awards is 78 votes ahead of me and types the word your, "ur." I posted the, "I Need 92 Votes to Win" box to be funny, but I'm losing by 78 votes to a girl who treats the world as one big AOL Instant Message. Maybe that is more funny. I would link it again, but I'm too lazy. Scroll down on this page and click that box that says I need ninety-one votes. OMG, if u wanna vote 4 me dat would B 2 kul, LOL (insert puking sound).

I'm 100% with you on this one, Jamison. She is the un-funniest. You are the funniest. She needs to come home to a little prozac and a good Dr. Phil book.

Yeah yeah while i vote for you for SURE between you two, mind I say this, she is a Singaporean, to us who actually lived in that country before, it actually could be FUNNY,sometimes, just have to put it in the Singlish context(singaporean english, with the accent, it is just another language, like Austrialian.) . And for those that lived in that country-- Remember the big asian thing about mobile to mobile messaging? Here is the story: the S'pore (see my point?) government wants to reduce the number of cars on the street, so what they do is to make a Toyota camry cost as much as a Jaguar there. Same (in principle) goes for the information highway. So if you want to kill time and BS to your friends while hanging with one arm up like a monkey in the subway train, and do it FAST and CHEAP, u must lern 2 sav ur Eglsh lttrs, IMO. I dont like reading it personally, but hey, some think it's a survival skill. Also, don't mind her being bitchy, 1)she admits to it and 2) they make up a genre on my island so the rest of us can watch, laugh and make fun of them and be glad we sweated all our childhood years in School, after-school school, tuition, and make-up tuition. In S'pore schools, smart kids gets to take up to 11 final exams instead of 6 each year, now no wonder everyone pretend they can't spel de eglish worts.

Sorry, I was just trying to complain, shill for votes, and make fun a innocent girl from Singapore who is much younger than me and speaks more languages than me. To be fair, I only made a cursory reading of her blog. Cheers. Jamie

Yo Doom, I know how you feel about these Asian Blog Awards, but frankly, despite the best efforts of the organizer, it just became one big popularity thing, like student council elections in middle school back home. You're right--it's kind of amazing to see suddenly just out of the blue a blog in top place with 100 or so votes ahead of you that just a few days ago wasn't even on the list. Hmmm wonder why that is??On the positive side as mentioned by others, it did help bring some blogs some sorely needed publicity. I guess I find that a consolation, but hey I just don't take the awards that serious anymore.

For what it is worth, you got my vote. Of course, you won't have it next year when I move from Los Angeles to Guandong. :) Cheers, John

yep, i have to agree that xiaxue is utter crap. all she does is whine about her little life and photoshop all her pictures! and if you're wondering why she has so many votes suddenly, thats because she practically begs everyone to vote for her. you have my vote, mate.

Hank, as he often does, hit the nail on the head. I really don't care about the awards. I'm not just saying that because I'm getting my butt kicked. I started this blog to entertain myself and inform my friends and family a little bit. It has only around for less than three months. Like William Saroyan said when he refused the Nobel Prize for Literature, "I don't write to get awards." (I like using preposterous comparions) I am happy about the exposure that Asian blogs are getting. I have actually found some new pretty cool blogs through all this too. So, in all, a big success. By the way Hank, I nominated you for a category or two. I am happy that I have 23 votes. Honestly, I am surprised that many people read this crap!
